UK-based Pledge launches ‘Impact Links’ to help freight forwarders offset carbon emissions

London-based Pledge, a company that empowers logistics and supply chain firms to reach their sustainability goals through its software, announced the launch of Impact Links.

Impact Links are the newest addition to Pledge’s sustainability toolset for freight forwarders, which also includes its recently introduced open-access freight emissions calculator.

This announcement is part of Pledge’s continued aim to offer freight forwarders with the tools they need to help their clients monitor, report, and eliminate freight emissions.

What does Impact Links offer?

The new technology will give freight forwarders a no-code solution for inviting their clients to buy carbon credits instantaneously to offset their unavoidable carbon emissions.

Pledge developed Impact Links as a white-label service, allowing goods forwarders to apply their own branding when offering it to their consumers.

The shareable Impact Links can be integrated into a freight forwarder’s existing processes and infrastructure, such as embedding them on their website, emailing them directly to clients, or sharing them by QR code.

Clients can opt to offset any amount of emissions, however, forwarders can also create customised Impact Links that let clients offset their precise emissions.

David de Picciotto, CEO of Pledge says, “We believe that leveraging technology to make climate action more accessible is the way forward. Our platform helps freight forwarders gain a competitive advantage by enabling their customers to take action on unavoidable emissions in a way that is simple, reliable, and independently verified.”

Impact Links chooses carbon credits from one of Pledge’s offsetting portfolios to purchase.

The portfolios support a range of verified CO2 removal and avoidance initiatives, including increased weathering and other carbon dioxide removal technologies as well as nature-based CDR programmes like weathering.

Each offsetting project is subjected to Pledge’s quality assessment, which aligns with industry best practices such as the Oxford Offsetting Principles for Net Zero Aligned Carbon Offsetting and the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

Pledge claims to manage all parts of the transaction, including payment processing and issuing a certificate that consumers can use as proof of offset credits acquired.

Brief about Pledge

According to Pledge, companies are aware of the critical need to minimise carbon emissions as they are facing pressure from authorities, customers, and business partners, among others.

The issue is that they frequently do not know where to begin in order to take effective action to understand and minimise their carbon footprint. And this is where Pledge comes in.

Founded in 2021 by André M., David de Picciotto and Thomas Lucas, Pledge aims to decarbonise the supply chain and help accelerate its transition to net zero.

“Our mission is to deliver best-in-class tools and infrastructure that enable businesses to become climate aware and accelerate their transition to Net Zero,” says the company.
