Lenovo launches Reduced Carbon Transport Service for eco-friendly IT device shipping

Beijing-based Lenovo, a computer technology company, has announced that it is introducing the “Reduced Carbon Transport Service” to assist eco-conscious enterprise customers in minimising their carbon footprint when air shipping IT devices.

This offering enables customers to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) credits, leading to at least a 70 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions. These credits can be linked to the IT purchase, showcasing Lenovo’s commitment to supporting sustainability efforts in business operations.

A cleaner substitute for conventional jet fuel

Lenovo’s Reduced Carbon Transport Service introduces Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as a greener option for airfreight, potentially reducing CO2 emissions and aiding Scope 3 emission targets. Scope 3 emissions, often overlooked, constitute a substantial portion of corporate emissions.

While few companies accurately measure these emissions, Lenovo’s service provides a tangible way for customers to lower airfreight emissions and obtain confirmation for their Scope 3 reporting, promoting transparency.

Claudia Contreras, Executive Director of Global Sustainability Services for Lenovo says, “We’re embedding sustainability deeper into the technology value chain with innovations like Reduced Carbon Transport so that customers have a pathway to more sustainable IT decision-making.”

“At Lenovo, we are committed to more than just our own Net-Zero vision. Net-Zero is achieved through a collection of sustainable choices. We are happy to be the trusted business partner and solution provider that helps customers achieve both digital transformation and sustainability success,” adds Contreras.

Lenovo is making its Reduced Carbon Transport Service available to enterprise customers in North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.

Alongside this, Lenovo offers other sustainability-focused services, including CO2 Offset Service and Asset Recovery Services, to help customers meet climate action objectives and adopt responsible IT practices.

Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG) introduces the Reduced Carbon Transport Service, joining IT solutions and services across various sectors. SSG offers support, managed, project, and solution services globally, aiding business transformation with practical innovation.

Lenovo TruScale customers can adopt subscription-based services to reduce waste by utilising what they need.
