Moxion Power’s battery tech gets selected as one of TIME’s Best Inventions for 2023

California-based Moxion Power, a manufacturer of clean, mobile battery energy storage system (BESS) technology, announced that it has gained recognition on TIME’s Best Invention list for its product MP-75/600, a mobile Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

TIME’s Best Invention list acknowledges innovative products, software, and services that creatively address significant problems, contributing to a better, smarter, and more enjoyable world.

Brief about Moxion Power

Moxion Power specialises in designing, engineering, and manufacturing mobile Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products.

The company’s technology facilitates the electrification of various industries including construction, transportation, utilities, live events, film production, telecommunications, and defense.

Investors in Moxion include Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, Sunbelt Rentals, Enterprise Holdings, Marubeni Ventures, Energy Impact Partners, and Tamarack Global.

What does the MP-75/600 offer?

Moxion Power says that this technology is the first product in a line-up of mobile BESS products that will electrify the temporary power industry.

Paul Huelskamp, CEO and co-founder at Moxion Power says, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have the MP-75/600 selected as one of TIME’s Best Inventions for 2023. This recognition highlights the exceptional talent, persistent curiosity, and moxie of our team.”

“Moxion’s mobile BESS products are cleaner, more sustainable alternatives to generators for temporary power applications across industries such as construction, utilities, film, and live events.”

“We hope this award encourages more companies to consider leveraging mobile BESS technology to decarbonise their operations and electrify our economy,” adds Huelskamp.

Moxion Power says, a full charge on the MP-75 lasts varying durations based on power needs; one charged unit can power an average American home for approximately a month or a typical construction site for about a week, considering standard equipment.

The MP-75 could charge a cell phone approximately 96,720 times, given the typical battery capacity of most phones being around 2,000 mAh.

Investors supporting Moxion Power

Amazon, who have invested in Moxion Power, is currently leasing Moxion units on multiple sets at Amazon Studios.

Nick Ellis, Principal at the Amazon Climate Pledge Fund says, “We’ve been using Moxion units now for over a year on multiple Amazon Studios’ productions as an alternative to higher pollution diesel fuel generators.”

“Hearing that Moxion’s MP-75/600 made the TIME’s Best Inventions list confirms our decision to use their innovative technology to help decarbonise our operations.”

Moxion Power claims that its products provide a fully electric alternative to industries dependent on fossil-fuel generators for temporary power, promoting sustainability.

California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild adds, “Earlier this year, Moxion Power announced the construction of a new gigafactory which will produce over 7GWh of battery capacity.”

“We congratulate and are proud to be supporting Moxion in driving our local economy forward. We need more successful investments like this if we’re going to achieve our net-zero goals by 2050.”

Jason Thompson, Senior Vice President of Power & HVAC, Pump Solutions at Sunbelt Rentals says, “This innovative technology aligns with our commitment to providing the North American marketplace with high-performing, sustainable solutions.”

“We have been an early investor and a collaborative customer of Moxion’s for over two years and look forward to future opportunities to partner together.”
