Ekko and Tusk collaborate to drive global conservation initiatives

UK-based sustainability fintech Ekko has partnered with African conservation leader Tusk to empower global consumers and businesses in integrating sustainability and conservation practices.

Through this collaboration, Ekko enables banks, merchants, and payment providers worldwide to incorporate conservation elements into their products and services.

Businesses can now empower their customers to contribute to animal conservation projects globally by donating benefits accumulated through Ekko.

The partnership

As part of their partnership, Ekko and Tusk have curated a portfolio of African conservation projects that businesses can support through Ekko’s infrastructure.

The portfolio covers initiatives in 13 nations, focusing on anti-poaching, conservation technology, and community-driven efforts. Projects include CLAWS, which employs cutting-edge technology for lion conservation, and others supporting threatened species like pangolin and mountain gorilla.

Ekko and Tusk aim to amplify conservation projects, addressing critical habitat preservation, protection of endangered species, combating illegal wildlife trade, empowering local communities, and promoting environmental education.

In addition to CLAWS, Ekko and Tusk’s portfolio includes projects like VulPro in South Africa, the Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association, and Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe.

The collaborative commitment of these two companies extends to amplifying various conservation initiatives. These projects collectively aim to preserve critical habitats, protect endangered species, combat illegal wildlife trade, empower local communities, and promote environmental education.

Oli Cook, CEO and co-founder of Ekko says, “The importance of this collaboration cannot be understated in the context of the sustainability movement. The intricate balance of animals, natural landscapes, and indigenous communities forms an essential pillar of the global ecosystem. Alongside Tusk, we share a commitment to nurture and safeguard our planet.”

Oli adds, “Fintech has an incredibly exciting role to play in our global challenge to be more sustainable. Combining forces with the incredible teams at Tusk to bring sustainability to every payment in the world has the potential to make a seismic impact on one of the most important challenges facing the global community.”

Dan Bucknell, Executive Director at Tusk says, “Tusk is thrilled to join forces with Ekko. Our shared mission is clear: to create profound, lasting impacts that benefit both the vibrant communities and the diverse wildlife of Africa. This partnership signifies a bold step forward in our continued commitment to the continent’s enduring legacy.”
