UK-based Changeblock raises €227K for its carbon market risk-led funding & trading solutions

London-based Changeblock, a company that allows people to evaluate, create, access and invest in environmental assets, announced that it has secured $250K (nearly €227K) in a fresh round of funding.

The investment came from EMURGO Africa, the Africa and Middle East-focused venture arm of EMURGO, a founding entity behind the Cardano blockchain. EMURGO Africa invests and partners with African enterprises, startups and accelerators to develop socially impactful solutions on Cardano’s environmentally-sustainable blockchain.

A strategic alliance

EMURGO Africa’s alliance with Changeblock aims to enhance their carbon market technology solutions. This investment aligns with EMURGO Africa’s vision of advancing blockchain adoption for economic and social progress in Africa and the Middle East.

Changeblock, a “pioneering” carbon market technology firm, wants to transform the carbon trading landscape via the use of blockchain technology. Through this investment, EMURGO Africa hopes to support sustainable development and environmental responsibility, while also pushing radical change in the carbon market.

Ahmed M. Amer, CEO of EMURGO Africa and Executive Director of EMURGO MEA says, “Together with Changeblock, we hope to bring the world’s regulators, business leaders, and global changemakers to foster and double down on their commitment to a global net zero strategy that is both economically viable and monetizable.”

Billy Richards, CEO of Changeblock adds, “Our shared vision with EMURGO Africa is to turn sustainable action into a valuable, tradeable asset for Africa. By leveraging the power of blockchain, we’re creating a transparent and efficient market that incentivises sustainable practices and attracts climate-focused investments.”
